William "Shine" Edward Lane

William “Shine” Edward Lane, 77, of Fremont passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Barden Cemetery, 397 Pinkney Road, Fremont, NC.   The family will greet friends following the service. 

“Shine” was born February 11, 1943 to the late Herman and Ethel Vaughn Lane.  He was retired from Dewey Brothers after 47 years and also from Metal Crafters.  He loved country music, bass fishing, traveling, walking and known as a workaholic by his family.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family and especially Sylvia, Liam and Layla Mae.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Lane; two sons, Eddie Lane and wife, Debbie of Goldsboro and Earl Lane of Salemburg; one step-son, Brent Sullivan and wife, Lisa of Pikeville; one step-daughter, Bethany Walsh and husband, Neal of Raleigh; two brothers, Bobby Lane and wife, Lisa of Smithfield and Pete Lane and wife, Joan of Goldsboro; one sister, Evelyn Langley and husband, Bruce of Wilson; one granddaughter, Anna Worrell and husband, Sean and his adopted family, Jeffrey and April Jernigan and their children, Sylvia, Liam and Layla Mae of Fremont.

The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
