Donald Lee Talton

Donald Lee Talton, 73, of Pikeville went to his heavenly home Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the Durham VA Medical Center in Durham.

A graveside service will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Pikeville Cemetery with military honors.  The family will receive friends following the graveside.

Mr. Talton was born in Norfolk, Virginia of September 24, 1949 to the late Dewey and Sophronia Sellers Talton.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Little River Volunteer Fire Department and the Fremont Rescue Squad. 

He is survived by his wife, Freida H. Talton; three daughters, Casey T. Cooper of Pikeville, Bridget Hein and husband, Eric of Mooresville and Donna Talton of Pikeville; two sisters, Faye Combs and husband, Alfred of Siler City and Dorothy Brantley of Whitakers, NC and three grandchildren, Ian, Connor and Ryan.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Talton was preceded in death by his first wife, Tara Talton; his second wife, Walda Talton; his brother, Dewey Sidney Talton Jr. and two sisters, Margaret Nichols and Kay Scites.

The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 North Pine Street in Fremont.
