Donnie Summerlin Obituary
Donnie Ray Summerlin, 71, of Kenly passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial service will be held Monday, August 17, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mr. Summerlin was born in Wilson County on January 24, 1949 to the late James Edward and Opal Beatrice Smith Summerlin.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janie Summerlin; one son, Burnice Paul Summerlin and wife, Phyllis of Kenly; one daughter, Kathryn Ann Batts and husband, Todd of Fremont; two sisters, Judy Faye Freeman and husband, Reverend Jackie Freeman of Wilson and Diane Marie Summerlin of Elm City and three grandchildren, Austin Paul Summerlin, Katlyn Almond and Tyler Ray Batts.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Summerlin was preceded in death by his brother, James Lee Summerlin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 North Pine Street in Fremont.
