Jim Harper Combs passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at UNC Health Wayne in Goldsboro at the age of 86.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 15, 2024 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. The family will greet friends following the service.
Mr. Combs was born in Stantonsburg on September 4, 1937 to the late Isac Lee and Emma "Bill" Best Combs. He retired as a lineman from MasTec (formerly Stackhouse).
Surviving are his two sons, Stevie Lee Combs (Destiny Grimmett) of Goldsboro and Jimmy Roger Combs of Goldsboro; one daughter, Amy Kennedy (Mike Kenndy) of Grantham; one brother, Marty Combs of Snow Hill; four grandchildren, Evangeline Combs, Bradley Combs, Cole Kennedy and Dylan Kennedy and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Combs; his siblings and his beloved dog, Tony.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Destiny Grimmett and Stephanie Murphy for their care provided to Jim.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.
The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 N. Pine Street in Fremont.
