Jo Anne (Meyer) Chakona

Jo Anne Chakona, 76, of Fremont went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday evening, February 4, 2022 at her home.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Pikeville.  Visitation will follow the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Chakona was born in Forsyth County on June 5, 1945 to the late Joseph and Grace Rodgers Meyer. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving husband, Aubry Chakona; two daughters, Sharon Waugh and husband, Timothy of Knoxville, Tennessee and Teresa Nobles and husband, Jeff of Eureka; one brother, Joseph Meyer Jr. of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Dorothy Lane of Winston-Salem and Debbie Sue Meyer of Winston-Salem and three grandchildren, Gabriella, Kaylee and William.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brothers, Joseph and William Meyer and one sister, Betty Jane Rodriguez.

The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
