Leslie Randall Howell

Leslie “Hoss” Randall Howell, 75, of Wilson passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held Thursday evening, June 24, 2021 at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.  The family will receive friends following the service.  A graveside service will be held Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Eureka Cemetery.

Mr. Howell was born in Wayne County on July 8, 1945 to the late Charlie Ransom Howell and Mary Ann Moore Howell.  He was retired form Bridgestone/Firestone of Wilson.  After retirement, Mr. Howell enjoyed working with Cox of Kenly.  Most of all, he enjoyed hunting and fishing while his health permitted.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Carol Grant Howell; one son, John Howell of Wilson; one daughter, Ammie Butler Howell of Goldsboro and fiancé, Randy Wolford; brothers, Vernon Howell of Goldsboro and Willie Howell of Goldsboro; sisters, Frances Grimes of Stantonsburg, Ruby Howell of Wilson, Mary “Papoose” Durham and husband, Ricky of Stantonsburg and Connie Ferrell and husband, Ray of Wilson; grandchildren, Dillon Kyle Butler (Christina Bryant), Waylon Dean Butler and Jessica Moore; step-grandchildren, Katie Sharpe & Austin Applewhite and Liam Kogelschatz; one great-grandchild, Brynlee Jean Butler and an adopted by love great-grandchild, Zachary Hines.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Howell was preceded in death by one sister.

The family is the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 North Pine Street in Fremont.
