Lucille (Bedford) Ballance

Lucille Ballance, 84, of Fremont went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Wilson Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Wilson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 30, 2019 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.  Interment will follow at Ballance Family Cemetery.

Mrs. Ballance was born in Wayne County on January 03, 1935 to the late Johnnie Thomas Bedford and Lomie Woodard Bedford.  She was a lifelong member of Pinkney Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School.  Mrs. Ballance loved baking her tea cookies for all her family and her church family to enjoy. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling around the local area to the gospel singings.

She is survived by her son, Richie Alan Ballance and wife, Phyllis of Lucama; two brothers, James Bedford and wife, Peggy of Goldsboro and Gerald Bedford and wife, Tilda of Pikeville; two sisters, Shirley Johnson of Kenly and Brenda Merritt and husband, Bob of Goldsboro; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Bedford of Kenly; two grandchildren, Justin Ballance and wife Melissa and Casey Taylor and husband, Andrew; and five great-grandchildren, Logan, Riley, Ava, Isaac and Caleb.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ballance was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard A. Ballance and Lloyd Edgar Ballance; one brother, J.T. Bedford and two sisters, Bessie Smith and Ruby Waddell.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 until 8:30 pm. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
