Matt Hooks of Fremont passed away, Wednesday evening, August 15, 2018 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
A graveside service will held Monday, August 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont. The family will receive friends following the service.
Matt was born in Wayne County on May 11, 1955 to the late Matthew Earl Hooks, Sr. and Ruth Peele Hooks. He was a retired farmer in northern Wayne County and an avid sports fan for NHL Hockey and the New York Yankees Baseball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Herman Lewis Hooks.
Matt is survived by his sister, Alma Hooks; his aunt, Betty Peele; his cousin, Ed Hooks and many dear relatives and friends and his special four-legged babies, Moose, Molly and Roscoe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to one’s favorite charity.
The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 North Pine Street in Fremont.
