Roxie Marie (Barnes) Harper

Roxie Marie Barnes Harper, 94, of Fremont went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, July 23, 2017.

Homegoing services will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at noon in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.  Rev. Levi Cummings will officiate.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont. 

Mrs. Harper was born in Johnston County on March 27, 1923 to the late James Evans and Bettie Langley Barnes.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Lewis Harper.

She is survived by two sons, Roger Harper and wife, Judy of Lucama and James Harper of Durham; two daughters, Priscilla Cummings and husband, Levi of Fremont and Tammy Moore of Fremont; two sisters, Gladys Lavin of Virginia and Betty Peele of Wilmington; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and her special cat, Rambo.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 until 11:45 a.m. and other times at the home of her daughter, Tammy Moore, 455 Old Black Creek Road in Fremont.

The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
