Walter "Frog" Griffin

Walter Ray “Frog” Griffin, 66, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Frog was born in Wilson County, NC on June 18, 1950 to the late Warren Harding and Annie Lois Medlin Griffin.  He was a combat veteran of the United States Army having served twice during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.  Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont with military honors.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Thompson-Griffin; one daughter, Nikki Wooten and husband, Heath of Macclesfield; one brother, Harry Gregory Griffin and wife, Jean of Tennessee; sister-in-law, Brenda Griffin of Fremont; one grandson, Wesley and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frog was preceded in death by his son, Scottie Griffin; two sisters, Glenda Ann Taylor and Anna Rose Speight and a brother, Warren "Baby" Griffin.

At Frog's request, please dress casual and come as you are.

The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
